Cavity treatment at DentClinic

What a cavity is and why it must be treated

A cavity is the destruction of the hard tissues of a tooth caused by bacteria and acids. In its early stage it appears as a small dark spot or a white, chalky dot and is barely noticeable. If left untreated, the lesion quickly reaches the pulp (the nerve), and treatment becomes more expensive, longer and more painful.

At DentClinic we aim to catch a cavity at the earliest possible stage and preserve as much healthy tooth tissue as we can. That's why we recommend a check-up every 6 months — it is free for our regular patients.

Important If a tooth feels cold or sweet, you have pain when chewing, or you can see a dark spot — it is a signal to come in. The earlier you do, the cheaper and faster the treatment.

How the treatment works

  1. Diagnosis. Examination plus, if needed, a targeted X-ray or 3D scan. We determine the depth and shape of the cavity.
  2. Anesthesia. Modern topical gel + a precise injection with a fine needle — the patient does not feel the prick.
  3. Tooth isolation. A rubber dam (latex sheet) protects the tooth from saliva — a key factor for filling longevity.
  4. Preparation. We remove the affected tissue under microscope magnification, preserving the healthy tooth.
  5. Filling. Layer-by-layer application of light-cured material, restoring the tooth's anatomy.
  6. Polishing. Grinding and polishing for a perfect fit and comfort.

Treating a single tooth takes on average 40–60 minutes. After the visit you can eat and resume normal activities right away.

Frequently asked questions

Is cavity treatment painful?
No. Modern anesthesia removes sensitivity completely, and the topical gel makes even the injection painless. Most of our patients say: "I didn't even notice when you finished."
How long does a filling last?
With proper care and regular check-ups — between 7 and 15 years. We provide a 2-year warranty on all our work.
Can a cavity be treated during pregnancy?
Yes, and it is even necessary. Bacteria from a diseased tooth can harm the baby more than mild anesthesia. The optimal period is the second trimester.
What if the cavity is already deep?
If the lesion has not reached the nerve, we will place a therapeutic liner and a filling in a single visit. If the nerve is affected, root canal treatment (endodontics) will be needed — that is a different procedure with a different price.
Do you treat children?
Yes, we have a dedicated pediatric dentist with a playful approach. More details are in the pediatric dentistry section.
